Ithaca College Athletics

2007: Samela played in every game, making four starts at cornerback. His six pass break-ups ranked second on the team. He made five tackles and broke up three passes in the win over King’s. Samela recorded a season-best six tackles and forced a fumble in the win at Utica. He broke up a pair of passes in the win over #19 Alfred.

2006: Samela played in every game as a back-up cornerback and special teams regular. He made a career-best 12 tackles (including one for loss) in the win over #14 Springfield and was named Ithaca’s Hustler of the Week. He picked up three tackles – including his first career sack – and forced a fumble in the win at Norwich.

2005: Samela attended the University of Massachusetts, where he played baseball for the Division I Minutemen.

High School: A 2005 graduate of Staples High School, Samela was coached by Marce Petroccio. He was a first-team all-state selection and earned three letters.

Personal: A sport management major, he is the son of Leonard and Joanne Samela. He has earned three letters as an outfielder with Ithaca’s NCAA playoff baseball team.
