Biography
2006-07: Friel played in every game and made seven starts. She ranked third on the team in field-goal percentage. Friel scored a career-best 14 points against Elmira as Ithaca won the Empire 8 title. She was Ithaca’s leading rebounder in a pair of games, pulling down a career-best eight in back-to-back games against Elmira and Hartwick. She contributed six steals and seven free throws in the win at Hartwick.
2005-06: Friel played in every game as one of Ithaca’s top players off the bench. She collected 10 points (matching her career-best) and a pair of steals against King’s. Friel netted 11 points in an Empire 8 win over Alfred then posted a career-high of 12 points in a conference victory at Nazareth. She pulled down a personal-high seven rebounds at Alfred and contributed six points, five rebounds and four assists in a win at RIT. She was named to the Empire 8 Presidents’ List following the fall semester.
2004-05: Friel played in 14 games for the Bombers as a freshman. She led all freshmen in scoring, averaging 2.9 points per game. In a win over Alfred, she recorded career highs with 10 points, three steals and two blocked shots in 14 minutes. She pulled down a career-best five rebounds in a win over Hartwick.
High School: A 2004 graduate of North Allegheny High School, Friel was coached by Paul Seneca. She was an all-section selection and was chosen to play in the Pittsburgh Hoops Classic and Roundball Classic all-star games. Friel, who also lettered in cross country and track & field, was named North Allegheny’s athlete of the year.
Personal: A biology major, she is the daughter of John and Charlene Friel.
