ALBANY, N.Y. – The nationally ranked No. 20 Ithaca College field hockey team improved to 8-2 on the season with a dominant, 4-0, non-conference victory at Russell Sage College on Tuesday evening.
The Bombers outshot the Gators, 17-4, and used a pair of goals in the third and fourth quarters to secure their fifth shutout of the season. Four different players scored goals in the win, while three others assisted on goals.
Abby Hennessy netted the game-winning goal in the 18th-minute off an assist from
Audrey McMahon and then
Caroline Folan scored unassisted three minutes later to send IC into halftime with a 2-0 advantage.
IC then struck twice late in the third quarter on a tally from
Brooke Snider off a pass from Elli Gipe in the opening seconds of the 44th-minute, followed by a strike from
Ainsley Grant with just 40 seconds left in the period, which was assisted by
Toni Ierardi.
Maeve Clark improved to 8-2 on the season in 45 minutes of action with one save, while
Abby Cannon stopped one shot in the fourth quarter.
The Bombers head to the North Country on Friday to play St. Lawrence at 4 p.m. and then host Skidmore on Sunday at 1 p.m.
