ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College football team will conclude its three-game homestand this Saturday, September 26 as the Bombers host St. Lawrence University at 1 p.m. IC is 2-1 on the season and 1-0 in the Liberty League, while St. Lawrence is 1-2 and will be playing its first Liberty League contest.
GAME COVERAGE
ALL-TIME SERIES: Ithaca and St. Lawrence will meet for the 45th time dating back to 1930. Ithaca is 37-6-1 against the Saints and have held SLU to 14 points or fewer in 27 of the last 30 matchups.
WILL THE STREAK CONTINUE?: The Bombers bring a 30-game winning streak against St. Lawrence into Saturday's contest. The last time St. Lawrence beat Ithaca came back in 1983, a 24-14 outcome in Ithaca.
ONE FOR THE RECORD BOOKS: Last Saturday, Ithaca improved to 2-1 on the season and 1-0 in the Liberty League with a 76-6 victory over Hilbert at Bertino Field at Butterfield Stadium.
The Bombers set a new school record with 769 yards of offense and matched program records with 35 first downs, 35 points in a quarter and touchdown passes with six. Along with that, the 76 points scored and 11 total touchdowns rank second all-time, while the 413 passing yards are fourth and 356 rushing yards rank seventh in single game history.
TOP PERFORMERS: Michael Reed threw for 261 yards and three touchdowns in just over a quarter of action, while
Chris Scully scored a pair of rushing touchdowns on three carries for 53 yards.
Nicholas Lang caught three passes for 100 yards and a score.
Jay Felio had four carries for 83 yards and a touchdown, while
Chase Myers rushed for 73 yards on six attempts and one score.
Tyler Sanders caught a 66-yard touchdown pass and
Antwan Harvey had two catches for 49 yards and one touchdown.
Myers,
Kevin Maloney and
Jack Gannon also caught touchdown passes, while
Gavin Bickford and
Brody Frederick combined to throw for three touchdowns.
Tyler Wolfe also got in on the action and scored a rushing touchdown.
NCAA STAT LEADERS: After three games, Ithaca ranks fifth in first downs (80), ninth in rushing offense (268.7 ypg) and 11th in total offense (523.7 ypg).
LIBERTY LEAGUE SLATE: IC is the lone team in the Liberty League with a win, but that will change this weekend as the entire conference is pitted against each other. Rochester vs. Hilbert, Hobart vs. RPI and Union vs. Buffalo State.
WITHIN THE LIBERTY LEAGUE: IC currently boasts the top scoring offense (41.3 ppg) and scoring defense (13.0 ppg) in the Liberty League. The Bombers are also tops in offensive yards (523.7) and defensive yards allowed (255.0).
CORTACA AT YANKEE STADIUM: The Bombers conclude the season against Cortland in the 67th Cortaca Jug Game presented by Visions Federal Credit Union at Yankee Stadium on November 14 at 1 p.m. Tickets for the game can be purchased on Ticket Master by searching 'Cortaca Jug'.
THE NEXT HOME GAME: The Bombers will host Rochester on October 10 for Hall of Fame Weekend. At halftime of the game, the 56th Hall of Fame class will be recognized and highlighting the class in the 1991 national championship football team.
SCOUTING ST. LAWRENCE: The Saints are 1-2 on the season after losses to St. John Fisher (30-10) and Alfred (31-7). St. Lawrence started the season with an 18-10 win at Norwich.
St. Lawrence averages 11.7 points per game and allows 23.7 points. The Saints rack up 254.3 yards on offense and allow 369.0 yards on defense.
Caeden Perreault is the top offensive threat with 189 yards rushing and 85 yards receiving, while Oliver Cheer has thrown for 398 yards and one touchdown. Cole Phelan is the leading receiver with 168 yards on 14 receptions.
Defensively, Brennan Twombly has a team-high 17 tackles and an interception and Luke Robillard is next in line with 15 stops.
