Women’s Lacrosse Falls at Home to No. 7 William Smith, 18-5

ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College women's lacrosse team suffered an 18-5 Liberty League loss at home to No. 7 William Smith on Wednesday afternoon. Ithaca is now 8-4 on the season and 5-3 in conference play.

The Bombers began with a strong start as Lily Cody got the opening draw, and after a back-and-forth few possessions, Leigh Naturale capitalized and netted a goal putting the Bombers up 1-0.

The Herons quickly tied it up in their next possession and soon after took their first lead of the game, however, Kathryn Scallon scored off an assist from Lily Cody to tie the game back up at 2-2. William Smith then went on a three-goal run as the end of the first quarter wrapped up at 5-3.

Early in the second quarter, the Herons netted another goal, however, Kelly Augeri quickly netted one of her own. The Herons then went on an offensive run, netting four goals in a row to close out the half. 

While Mikaela Dattilo stood strong in cage, the Herons continued to pound away as they netted their 11th goal straight out of the halftime huddle. To close out the third quarter, the Herons went on a four-goal run while their defense held the Bombers scoreless.

In the fourth quarter, Taya Dukes netted the Bombers fourth goal as the Herons quickly returned with two goals of their own. To wrap up the game, Naturale netted one as Augeri tallied the assist.

Ithaca is back at home on Saturday for Senior Day against RPI at 3:15 p.m.
