ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College women's tennis team celebrated Senior Day in style on Saturday afternoon, earning a 6-1 Liberty League victory over Bard College on a beautiful day at the Wheeler Tennis Courts.
The Bombers secured the doubles point with wins across all three flights. At No. 1 doubles,
Alys Pop and Sabina Cheung rolled to a 6-2 victory, while
Aenessa Rylski and
Madeleine Sutro followed with an identical 6-2 win at No. 2. The No. 3 pairing of
Martina Nicora and
Jade Vadeboncoeur clinched the point with a hard-fought 6-4 decision over Lola Greene and Lisa Kyrtoka.
Ithaca continued its momentum into singles play, winning five of the six matches. Pop made quick work of Paige Houghton at No. 1, earning a dominant 6-0, 6-0 victory. Cheung followed with a straight-set win over Catherine Chapel at No. 2, and Sutro added another point at No. 3 with a 6-2, 6-0 win against Patricia Santos.
Rylski secured the Bombers' fourth singles point with a 6-2, 6-1 victory at No. 4, and Vadeboncoeur closed out the scoring at No. 6, defeating Kyrtoka 6-4, 6-2.
With the Senior Day victory, Ithaca improved to 5-8 overall and will host RPI on Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m.
