ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College women's tennis team returned to its winning ways on Friday afternoon taking down the visiting SUNY Geneseo Knights by a 6-1 score. The Bombers were dominant earning the sweep in doubles play with the lone visitors point scored at No. 6 singles.
Ithaca started out the day strong winning each doubles matchup including the top tandem of
Alys Pop and
Sabrina Cheung blanking Natalie Pipes and JoAnn Catalano.
Madeleine Sutro and
Ava Casell-Lapetina earned a 6-4 win at No. 2 while the duo of
Martina Nicora and
Jade Vadeboncoeur earned a 6-2 win over Talia Wutz and Ashleigh Fredriksen.
Momentum continued in singles play with
Alys Pop earning a 6-1, 6-1 win while
Sabrina Cheung took down Samantha Rava, 6-1, 6-2. Sutro would earn a win at No. 3 singles (6-2, 6-2), while
Ava Casell-Lapetina won by set scores of 6-0, 6-2 over JoAnn Catalano.
Ekaterina Kelly scored the final IC win in the No. 5 singles flight with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Lauren Levatino.
Ithaca improved to 4-8 overall and return to Liberty League play on Saturday hosting Bard College at 3 p.m.
