ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College women's tennis team hosted Bloomsburg University on Friday inside Glazer Arena at the Athletics & Events Center, where the Bombers fell 6–1 in non-conference action. IC moves to 3–3 on the season, while NCAA Division II Bloomsburg improves to 6–1.
The Bombers picked up a win at No. 1 doubles, as
Alys Pop and
Sabrina Cheung defeated Dasha Nakonechna and Lia-Sophie Seele, 6–2. However, Bloomsburg secured victories in the remaining two doubles matches to take the doubles point.
In singles play, Cheung won the first set at No. 2 before ultimately falling to Nicole Ilkovic, 3–6, 6–3, 6–0. At No. 3 singles,
Madeleine Sutro was defeated by Jen McDonald, 2–6, 3–6.
Ava Casell-Lapetina pushed her matchup to three sets at No. 4 but came up short against Nakonechna, 6–3, 2–6, 2–6.
The lone point of the day was scored by
Alys Pop at No. 1 singles. The junior would prevail in three sets over Lia-Sophie Seele by scores of 4-6, 6-4 and 6-4.
Next up, Ithaca will host Binghamton University at 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 7.
