ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College men's tennis team returned to non-conference action on Friday afternoon and hosted NCAA Division II Bloomsburg University for a matchup inside Glazer Arena in the Athletics & Events Center. The Bombers were able to fight back, and it came down to the final matchup at No. 6 singles in which they prevailed taking the match by a 4-3 score.
The Huskies earned the early lead by taking the doubles point by winning all two of the three matchups.
Ivan Kisic and
Samuel Lopez-Cardenas scored the win at No. 3 doubles as they took down the Bloomsburg duo by a score of 6-1.
Ithaca would tie the team score at 1-1 when
Luis Crespo produced a double bagel over Jaime Soria at No. 4 singles.
Gijs Fidler would then give Ithaca the brief lead when he downed Aljandro Higuera by scores of 6-4, 6-2, but at No. 1 singles nationally ranked No. 14
Ivan Kisic fell to Denis Dementev by set scores of 6-2, 7-6.
The teams traded points with Bloomsburg taking the No. 3 singles matchup and
Carlos Hernandez was able to best Sergio Dilan at No. 5 singles by set scores of 6-4 and 6-4. Ithaca clinched the match as similar to Crespo,
Samuel Lopez-Cardenas defeated his opponent at No. 6 by scores of 6-0, 6-0.
With the win, Ithaca improves to 4-1 overall and returns to action on Thursday, March 19 with a road matchup at Clark University scheduled for 3 p.m.
