ITHACA, N.Y. – On Sunday, the Ithaca College women's tennis team continued Liberty League play, falling to Vassar College, 7-0.
Vassar made quick work of doubles play, with
Alys Pop and
Sabrina Cheung falling to Erin McCusker and Iris Li, 6-1, at No. 1 doubles. The Brewers earned another 6-1 win at No. 2 doubles, when Ananya Krishan and Maddie Kirby knocked off
Madeleine Sutro and
Ava Casell-Lapetina. Vassar completed the doubles sweep and earned the point, as
Aenessa Rylski and
Martina Nicora dropped a 6-3 margin.
In singles play, Pop fell in a tough 6-3, 7-5 decision against McCusker at No. 1 singles. At No. 2 singles, Cheung fell 6-2, 6-3 before Sutro was bounced by the same scores of 6-2, 6-3 at No. 3 singles. Vassar's Liya Pomfret defeated Casell-Lapetina at No. 4 singles, 6-2, 6-1. Senior
Ekaterina Kelly fell in her No. 5 singles match against Esme Nix, 6-4, 6-0 as Rylski rounded out the team with a 6-1, 6-4 loss at No. 6 singles.
The Bombers will continue Liberty League action on Friday at home. Ithaca will face off against RIT for a 4 p.m. match.
