WALTHAM, Mass. – The Ithaca College men's tennis team had a quick turnaround on Friday competing on the backend of Spring Break. After a resounding win on Thursday, the Bombers dropped a 6-1 decision to No. 23 nationally ranked Brandeis University on Friday.
The Bombers earned a 6-4 win at No. 2 doubles courtesy of
Ean Lantzy and
Luis Crespo, but the Judges would claim the other two matches to earn the doubles point. At No. 1 doubles, the duo of
Siddharth Desai and
Gijs Fidler fell 6-4 while
Ivan Kisic and
Samuel Lopez-Cardenas were clipped by the same margin at No. 3 doubles.
The Bombers notched their lone point of the day at No. 6 singles as first year
Samuel Lopez-Cardenas prevailed in a three-set thriller. He defeated David Wang by scores of 0-6, 6-3, and 6-2.
Gijs Fidler had a back-and-forth matchup at No. 2 singles but lost to Pierce Garbett, 6-4, 7-5 and
Ivan Kisic lost at No. 1 singles by scores of 6-1, 7-5.
Ithaca returns to South Hill on Sunday for a 1 p.m. match against NYU. The Violets earned a 5-2 win over Ithaca during the 2024-25 season.
