ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College men's basketball earned a crucial Liberty League victory at home against St. Lawrence University, 75-72, inside Ben Light Gymnasium on Friday evening to complete the season sweep of the Saints. Ithaca is now 8-12 on the season and 7-6 in Liberty League play.
Friday's matchup was similar to the matchup with SLU just a few weeks ago, as the Bombers built a double-digit lead by halftime. Tonight, the Bombers led by 10 points at 38-28, and when the Bombers traveled to Canton, IC went into intermission with a 16-point lead at 39-23. St. Lawrence mounted second half comebacks in each contest and trimmed its deficits to two points on both occasions but was never able to complete the comeback.
Jaylon O'Neal put together one of his best games of the season as he notched a double-double with 13 points on 5-of-8 shooting, to go along with 10 rebounds and six assists.
Evan Cabral led the Bombers with 16 points and went 4-for-7 from 3-point range, while
Matthew Zenker added 13 points, five rebounds and three assists.
The Bombers received 31 points from their bench on Friday, led by 11 from
Alex Penders on 5-of-6 attempts with seven rebounds.
Thomas McKiernan added eight points and five assists, while
Nick Lemmond chipped in six points.
Ithaca will honor its senior class prior to tomorrow's 4 p.m. tip against Clarkson.
