Ithaca Men’s Wrestling in First after Day 1 of the Region II Championships

ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College men's wrestling team is hosting the NCAA Division III Region II Championships this weekend, and after the opening day on Friday, the Bombers racked up 94 team points to sit atop the standings. Stevens Institute of Technology follows in second with 86.5 points, while St. John Fisher and RIT are tied for third at 67.5. Lycoming rounds out the top five with 66.5 points.
 
The Bombers will also send six wrestlers into the semifinal round on Saturday, each needing one more win to secure an NCAA qualification berth. Jay McDonnell (133 lbs.), Isaias Torres (141 lbs.), Konrad Parker (174 lbs.), Xavier Pommells (184 lbs.), Ryan Galka (197 lbs.) and Kamdyn Dorchester (285 lbs.) all went 2–0 on Friday to advance. Ithaca also has Akio Sanders and Chris Reddy alive in the consolation bracket as they look to battle their way into a third‑place bout.
