Ithaca Men’s Lacrosse Upended by (RV) St. John Fisher in Season-Opener

VICTOR, N.Y.- The Ithaca College men's lacrosse team opened up its 2025-26 campaign on Saturday afternoon as they hosted (RV) St. John Fisher indoors at the Pinnacle Athletic Campus and Events Center. The Cardinals produced an explosive first quarter and  would hold on for an 18-12 win.

The Bombers allowed the first goal of the game less than a minute into the match, but Will Kleine tied it up for Ithaca, only 45 seconds later. However, from there the Cardinals were able to dominate the first quarter, scoring nine-straight goals to lead 10-1 at the end of the quarter.

At the start of the second stanza, St. John Fisher scored their 10th goal in a row to make it 11-1. Then just under two minutes into the frame Brendan Occhino found the back of the net to get the Bombers back in the scoring column. Shortly after that Andrew Minard made back-to-back saves for the Bombers. However, a couple of minutes later the Cardinals found the back of the net again to make it 12-2. Towards the end of the half, Ithaca then got a pair of goals from Ryan Connolly and Tim Rogers, who was assisted by Occhino. The Cardinals followed that up with another goal to make it 13-4 at the half.

After a St. John Fisher goal to open the third quarter, Ithaca started to come alive offensively at the midway point. Tommy Allocco got the ball rolling for the Bombers with his first of the season. A few minutes later Sam Baker and Corey White scored within 12 seconds of each other for the Bombers, but towards the end of the frame the Cardinals struck yet again to make it 16-7.

In the fourth quarter, Tim Rogers started the Bombers off strongly, collecting a pass from Lucas Proctor to make it 16-8. About a minute later, the Cardinals matched it, but the Bombers still did not go away as Baker scored his second of the game off of a feed from Occhino. After one more Cardinal goal the Bombers scored three-straight to close out the game. Rogers got the first of the three off of a pass from Occhino, then Kleine scored his second of the game, before Rogers closed out the scoring a man-up, with Ethan Adrid picking up the assist.

The Bombers are in action again on the road at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 25 against SUNY Geneseo.
