Gymnastics Finishes Second at Cortland Quad Meet

CORTLAND, N.Y. –
The Ithaca College gymnastics team traveled to SUNY Cortland to compete in a quad meet with Springfield and Utica on Saturday. Ithaca finished second overall with 188.000, while Cortland was first with 190.700. Springfield took third at 186.400 and Utica was right behind in fourth with 186.200.

IC got off to a slow start with scores of 46.325 and 46.425 on bars and beam but turned things around over the final two events with 47.975 on floor and 47.275 on vault.

Olivia Lane was the high scorer for IC on bars with 9.450, while Mya John earned 9.400. Sienna Blake received 9.300 and Lucy Kaupp turned in 9.200.

Emily Kobusky finished in a tie for second on beam with 9.625 to lead the rotation for the Bombers. Emili Horike was awarded 9.525 and Leanne Desjardins scored 9.300. Jillian Freyman factored into the scoring with 9.225 and Taylor Arias received 9.400 in exhibition.

Grace Murray was one of three gymnasts to earn 9.725 on floor to tie for first, while Arias, Sh'Nai Thompson and Freyman were close in scores with 9.625, 9.600 and 9.550. Madelynn Farragher was shown 9.475 following her routine and Kaupp received 9.350.

IC concluded the meet on vault and Murray once again led the way with 9.725, which was third overall. John (9.475), Natalie Steed (9.425), Farragher (9.375) and Lauren Babineaux (9.275) were all separated by .200 to round out IC's top five. Thompson earned 9.450 in an exhibition and Camden Contakos scored 9.150.

The Bombers will compete in their final regular season meet of the season next Sunday, March 1 at Utica.
