RESULTS
CORTLAND, N.Y. – The Ithaca College gymnastics team traveled to SUNY Cortland on Saturday for the Empire State Championships and finished fifth out of six teams with a final score of 189.500.
Long Island University won the meet with 194.750, while Cornell was second with 192.850. Brockport took third with 192.000 and Cortland was fourth at 191.950. Utica finished behind IC with 188.500.
The Bombers began the competition on beam and scored 47.275 as
Emily Kobusky led the way with 9.750 to finish in a tie for sixth.
Leanne Desjardins posted a performance of 9.700, while
Mya John and
Emili Horike also turned in solid showings with 9.675 and 9.650.
IC then moved over to floor and was stellar with 48.725.
Jillian Freyman and
Grace Murray each received 9.850 to tie for fifth, while
Taylor Arias was awarded 9.825.
Lucy Kaupp and
Madelynn Farragher also factored into the team score with 9.700 and 9.500.
Ithaca then turned in six routines over 9.200 on vault as the Bombers finished the rotation with 47.300.
Natalie Steed was the top performer with 9.600, while John scored 9.525. Farragher started the rotation with 9.450 and
Sh'Nai Thompson followed with 9.400.
Lauren Babineaux earned 9.325 and Murray received 9.200.
It was a tough finish for IC on bars as the team received 46.200. John and Babineaux anchored the rotation with identical scores of 9.550. Kaupp turned in a 9.150 and
Sienna Blake scored 9.050.
Ithaca will head back to Cortland next Saturday for a dual meet.
