Bombers Hold Off Late SUNY Geneseo Rally to Secure 62–54 Road Victory

GENESEO, N.Y. – The Ithaca College women's basketball team earned a hard-fought 62–54 road win over SUNY Geneseo on Saturday afternoon, led by double-digit scoring efforts from Natalie Tucker, Tori Drevna, and Zoraida Icabalceta. The Bombers showcased a balanced offensive attack, shooting 36.8% from the field and knocking down 11 three-pointers to secure the victory.

An early foul on Ithaca's Madison Gill allowed Geneseo to strike first as Sofia Vasselman converted two free throws. Tori Drevna answered for the Bombers, knocking down her first three-pointer just 1:42 into the game. Natalie Tucker followed with a layup to give Ithaca its first lead, 5–4, with 7:19 remaining in the opening quarter.

After several back-and-forth possessions, Zoraida Icabalceta connected from beyond the arc off a feed from Mary Bernat to keep the Bombers in front. Ithaca closed the first quarter on an 8–0 run with contributions from Drevna, Aila Dervisevic, and Icabalceta, taking an 18–12 advantage into the break.

A jumper from Avery McPeek off a Dervisevic assist opened second quarter scoring for Ithaca. Back-to-back baskets from Tucker at the 4:18 mark extended the lead to 13, 28–15. Grace McNamara added a bucket off a pass from Simone Pintinalli, and two late makes from Drevna pushed the Bombers' lead to 15 at halftime, 35–20.

At the half, Tucker and Drevna paced Ithaca with 13 and 11 points, respectively, while Gill led the team with three rebounds.

Geneseo opened the third quarter with a free throw after two scoreless minutes and later went on an 8–0 run to cut the deficit to seven, forcing an Ithaca timeout. Madalyn Barrows ended the Bombers' drought with a layup at 3:28, and baskets from Dervisevic, Bernat, Icabalceta, and Kenzie Perluke helped Ithaca maintain control, leading 48–36 heading into the fourth.

Gill drilled a deep three to start the final quarter, and baskets from McPeek and Drevna stretched the lead to 18 with 6:32 remaining. Icabalceta added back-to-back scores to push the margin to 20 with under four minutes to play. Geneseo mounted a late rally to pull within seven with 33 seconds left, but Ithaca held on for a 62–54 victory.

Next up, Ithaca (5-5) winners of three in a row will return to Liberty League action on Friday, January 9 when they welcome RIT to town for a 5:30 p.m. tip-off.
