Ithaca Men's Swimming & Diving Take Down the University of Rochester, 181-119

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Ithaca College men's swimming and diving team delivered a dominant performance Saturday, defeating the University of Rochester 181–119 on the road in a decisive dual meet victory.
 
The Bombers set the tone early with a win in the 200-yard medley relay, as Alec Kutsner, Will Stanczewski, Matt Mitros and Spencer Alderson combined for a winning time of 1:35.68. Ithaca quickly added to its momentum in the next event, earning a 1‑2‑4 finish in the 200 freestyle led by Ryan Cooke in 1:44.67, followed by Kyle Kruppa and Will Stanczewski.
 
Ithaca continued to pack the top of the leaderboard throughout the meet. Kutsner placed second in the 100 backstroke (52.44), while Graff, Bryce Martin and Nicholas Sosa swept the second through fourth spots in the 100 breaststroke. In the 200 butterfly, James Moore took first in 1:57.37, with teammates Ben Lajoie and Mike Ekert close behind.
 
The Bombers also controlled the sprint events. Spencer Alderson won the 100-yard freestyle in 48.00, and Matthew Mitros took home a second place result in the 50 with a recorded time of 21.34. Martin later added a victory in the 200 breaststroke (2:15.25), leading an IC 1‑2‑3 sweep.
 
In distance racing, Ryan Cooke secured his second individual win of the day, taking the 500 freestyle in 4:48.25. Harper Freeman and Bennett Molitor‑Kirsch contributed strong supporting finishes to widen Ithaca's lead.
 
Ithaca swept the diving events behind senior Kian Long, who won the 3‑meter event with 278.80 points before adding a victory on the 1‑meter board with a score of 249.80.
 
The Bombers capped the meet with a commanding win in the 200-yard freestyle relay, as the A‑team of Alderson, Cooke, Kutsner and Mitros posted a time of 1:26.33.
 
Ithaca continues its season next week as it builds toward championship competition. Up next, the Bombers will celebrate Senior Day when they host SUNY Geneseo inside Kelsey Partridge Bird Natatorium on Saturday, January 31.
