Game Recap: Field Hockey |

No. 22 Field Hockey Topped by Union, 2-1, On The Road

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – The nationally ranked No. 22 Ithaca College field hockey team had its four-game winning streak come to an end on Saturday as the Bombers dropped a 2-1 decision at Union College. The Bombers are now 7-3 on the season and 0-1 in the Liberty League as their defensive scoreless streak also ended at 275 minutes.

Shots came at a premium in this Liberty League battle as the Bombers only managed four attempts over 60 minutes of action and Union took six shots. Penalty corners were similar, as the Bombers earned six and Union had four.

The Bombers struck first in the 12th minute as Audrey McMahon scored off a pass from Payton Yahner. IC held onto its lead through the first half as Maeve Clark made four saves in the second quarter.

Union broke through in the 39th minute as one of the nation's leading goal scorers, Maddie Greco, knotted the game at 1-1. Greco tallied another goal in the fourth quarter for the eventual game-winner with eight minutes left in the game. She now has 12 goals on the season.

IC is back on the road next week with a trip to Vassar on Friday, October 3. The Bombers will then come back home for Senior Day on Sunday, October 5 against RPI.
