ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College women's tennis team hosted Hartwick College in its first head-to-head matchup of the 2025-26 season on Wednesday afternoon. The Bombers were in top form earning the doubles point along with winning five of the six singles matchup in a 6-1 win over the Hawks.
At No. 3 doubles,
Ava Casell-Lapetina and
Martina Nicora blanked their opponents while
Aenessa Rylski and
Madeleine Sutro defeated Samantha Lantzy and Lily Vanuga by a 6-2 score. In the top spot,
Sabrina Cheung and
Alys Pop teamed together to take down Phoebe Olson and Gianna Leggieri, 6-3.
Alys Pop bested Samantha Lantzy at No. 1 singles by set scores of 6-2 and 6-0. The Bombers continued to roll seeing victories from
Martina Nicora (6-0, 6-2) and
Aenessa Rylski (6-2, 6-1).
Madeleine Sutro was tested but prevailed over Lily Vanuga by scores of 7-6, 6-4. Casell-Lapetina would comeback after dropping the first set as she defeated Gianna Leggieri 4-6, 7-5 and 1-0 (10-7).
Next up, Ithaca will compete in the ITA Northeast Regionals in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. beginning on Friday, September 26.
