Box Score 3 SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Taking on some of the top regional competition in the area, the Ithaca College women's tennis team was in action this weekend at the ITA Northeast Regional Championships, hosted by Skidmore College.
Junior
Alys Pop made her longest run in the ITA Regional as she went all the way to the Round of 16. Pop opened the weekend with a gritty comeback victory over Elizabeth Ring from The College of New Jersey. Pop dropped the opening set 7-6 (8-6), but turned it around to win 6-0 and 10-8 in the tiebreaker. She would then take down her round of 32 opponent Sieun Lee by an 8-2 score. The junior fell in the next match by a 6-2, 7-6 (10-8) score.
In the "B" flight,
Aenessa Rylski was able to down Rachel Molloy from SUNY Geneseo by an 8-1 set score. She would then punch her ticket into the quarterfinals defeating Kaitlyn Hardy 8-7(7-5). She would then fall in the semis to the University of Rochester's Hailey Kornbluth by an 8-1 set score.
Pop and
Sabrina Cheung competed in doubles action, dropping an 8-3 decision to the hands of Skidmore's Mia Rosenberg and Ellie Lake. First year
Martina Nicora and
Madeleine Sutro teamed together in the "B" flight and they were defeated in extras to Hailey Kornbluth and Natalie Debowski, 8-7(7-5).
The Bombers close out the fall portion of their schedule with a home dual against Daemen University slated for October 11 at 12 p.m.
