Elizabeth Thompson Named Assistant Coach for Ithaca College Women’s Basketball

8/6/2025 1:25:00 PM

ITHACA, N.Y. – Ithaca College women's basketball head coach Dan Raymond has announced the hiring of Elizabeth Thompson as the program's new assistant coach ahead of the 2025–26 season.

"I'm thrilled to welcome Elizabeth Thompson to our ICWB family," said Raymond. "Liz brings a lifetime of basketball experience to our program. She excelled as a graduate assistant at Springfield College over the past two years, and with both of her parents being basketball coaches, she truly has coaching in her blood."

A native of Morris, N.Y., Thompson spent the last two seasons with the Springfield College women's basketball program, where she was actively involved in all aspects of the team's day-to-day operations. Her responsibilities included assisting with recruiting efforts, developing scouting reports, and collaborating with the head coach on planning and executing practice sessions.

Thompson also played a key role in managing the team's social media presence, helping to elevate Springfield's online profile. During the 2023–24 season, the Pride posted a 22–6 overall record, won the NEWMAC regular season title, and the coaching staff was honored as the NEWMAC Women's Basketball Coaching Staff of the Year.

Thompson is a graduate of SUNY Oneonta, where she earned her undergraduate degree in secondary education/social studies.

During her collegiate playing career, she appeared in 59 games and was a two-time selection to the SUNYAC Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll. She recently completed her graduate degree in special education at Springfield College.
