Women's Tennis Falls in Liberty League Quarterfinal

ITHACA, N.Y.- The Ithaca College women's tennis team returned to the Liberty League Championship tournament as they were the No. 6 seeded team this season with a 6-12 overall record. The Bombers were defeated 4-0 by the nationally ranked No. 25 RPI Engineers who will play in the semifinals on Saturday.
 
In doubles Madeleine Sutro and Ava Casell-Lapetina were defeated 6-0. Lauren Rodriguez and Alys Pop were defeated 6-1. Meanwhile, Taylor Crain and Sabrina Cheung were winning their unfinished match 3-2, but the Engineers clinched the point to go up 1-0.
 
In singles action Casell-Lapetina put up the best fight for the Bombers, falling 6-3 and 6-4 in consecutive sets to Taylor Chandler at No. 6 singles. Sabrina Cheung had a valiant effort against Gauri Muliyil but ultimately fell 6-3 and 6-1. Then Taylor Crain and Alys Pop were both amidst their matches as competition ended, each playing in the third set. Crain and Pop both lost the first set 6-4 and won the second 6-3.
 
Mari Mitchell finished her first season with the Bombers with a 2-6 record in the Liberty League.
