ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College men's tennis team returned to its winning ways in Glazer Arena as the Bombers defeated Union College, 5-2 in a Saturday afternoon matchup. With the win, Ithaca improves to 4-6 overall and 2-1 within the Liberty League while Union saw its three-match win streak snapped and drop to 5-8-1 and 1-1 in conference.
The Bombers were able to score the result in their favor as they scored wins in five of the six singles matches. First year
Ivan Kisic scored a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 3 singles and
Gijs Fidler triumphed over David Wang in the No. 1 spot by set scores of 7-6 (7-1) and 6-2. Momentum continued for IC when
Luis Crespo took down Solen Bellemare (6-4 and 6-4) and would next win two out of the final three matches in three sets.
Siddharth Vaada was on the winning end at No. 2 singles over Jesus Sosa (6-0, 3-6 and 6-4), which clinched the match.
Emiliano Pedrero continued his strong spring by winning 6-3, 2-6 and 1-0 (10-7).
The day started with doubles, which the Garnet Chargers were able to take two of the three matches to grab the opening team point. The lone Ithaca win was earned in the second flight with the duo of
Ivan Kisic and
Siddharth Vaada winning their match, 6-0.
Ithaca will have a quick turnaround returning to action on Sunday, April 6 in another Liberty League matchup, this time against St. Lawrence at 2 p.m.
