Men’s Lacrosse Postseason Surge Continues with Commanding Win over Skidmore

SARATOGA, N.Y. – For the first time since 2018, the Ithaca College men's lacrosse team emerged victorious in the postseason. In a rematch against the Skidmore Thoroughbreds from three days ago, the Bombers dominated, winning 14-4 in a first round matchup of the Liberty League Championships on Tuesday. Ithaca advances to the Liberty League semifinals to face the No. 3 ranked RIT Tigers.

From the first whistle, Ithaca was ready to attack, defend, and everything in between. Motivated by their regular-season-ending loss, the Bombers came out firing in the rematch. Kyle Proctor opened the scoring four minutes in. Skidmore's Caleb Lawson quickly equalized, but from that point on, Ithaca controlled the game. Kyle Proctor, Kyle Savery, and Jack Pastore led the Bombers to four-straight goals, closing out the first quarter with a 5-1 lead, including a hat-trick from Proctor.

Cullen Adams and Lucas Proctor added two more goals, extending the lead to 7-1. Skidmore's Andrew Meindl briefly interrupted Ithaca's momentum, cutting the lead to five, but Ithaca responded with three more goals, securing a 10-2 cushion at halftime.

In the third and fourth quarters, Ithaca outscored Skidmore 2-1, resulting in the final score of 14-4. The Bombers remained composed, preventing Skidmore from mounting a comeback. Ithaca's defense shut down (RV) Skidmore's previously explosive offense, holding them to just four goals compared to 15 in their previous encounter. The Bombers' offense was relentless, ensuring their postseason journey continued.

Andrew Minard was spectacular with 16 saves, many of which were made right on the doorstep. Kyle Proctor led the Ithaca offense with a career-high four goals and three assists, which was good for seven points.

Ithaca will travel to Rochester to face the No. 3 ranked RIT Tigers on Friday in the Liberty League semifinals, with the game time still to be announced.
