Saratoga Springs N.Y. - The Ithaca College baseball team completed the Liberty League sweep of the Skidmore Thoroughbreds on Monday by scores of 24-11 and 7-6 to improve their record to 17-10 on the season and 10-3 in conference.
Game One: Ithaca 24, Skidmore 11
The Bomber bats were hot in the first inning as they put up five runs thanks to
Collin Feeney's two RBI single,
Tyler Pugliese's two RBI double, and
Ryan Laubscher's RBI single to make the score 5-0.
The bats would go quiet until the fourth when the Bombers would score six more runs off the bats of
Camden Laney, who had an RBI single, Feeney would pick up another RBI on a bunt single,
Ethan Fantel roped a two RBI double, and Pugliese picked up his third RBI on a single to make the score 11-5.
In the top of the fifth, the Bombers would score another three runs on an
Ethan McDonough RBI single and a two-run home run by Laney to extend the lead to 14-7.
In the top of the sixth, Fantel smacked his first collegiate homerun to make the score 15-7.
In the top of the eighth, Fantel struck again with another solo homerun but that wasn't it for the Bombers, as they would score four more runs off the bats of
Nate Rodriguez who had a two RBI single, Laney with a sac fly and
Matt Curtis drove in one to give IC a 20-11 lead.
The Bombers scored four more in the top of ninth thanks to Rodriguez's first collegiate homerun that drove in two, Zach Sperger had an RBI single and Fantel drew a bases loaded walk for the 24-11 final.
Seven pitchers threw in the opener as
Jack Colyer picked up the win in 3.0 innings of relief.
Game Two: Ithaca 7, Skidmore 6
In the top of the first,
Andrew McDermott led the game off with a solo homerun and then IC tacked on four more runs in the top of the second thanks to a two-run single off the bat of
Ethan McDonough and a single from Laney that brought home two more to make the score 5-0.
Skidmore chipped away at its deficit with a run in the bottom of the second, one in the bottom of the fourth and two more in the bottom of the fifth to pull to with a run at 5-4.
Skidmore grabbed the lead in the sixth by plating two runs, but the Bombers scored the tying and go ahead runs in the top of the eighth when McDonough and Laney each drove in a run to give IC a 7-6 win.
Dan Kellachan picked up the win with two scoreless innings of relief.
Ithaca will travel to Oswego state on April 15
th for some midweek action, game starts at 3 p.m.
