SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The Ithaca College softball team saw its offense explode in the first game and staged a sixth-inning comeback to sweep Skidmore in a Liberty League doubleheader on Sunday. The pair of wins improved the Bombers' record to 15-4 overall and 3-1 in the Liberty League.
Game 1: Ithaca 15, Skidmore 0 (F-5 innings)
The Bombers exploded for 16 hits, while
Anna Cornell limited Skidmore to just one hit and struck out 12 batters. Ithaca quickly lit up the scoreboard as
Elise Waddington scored in the top of the first inning on a single by
Haley Petrucci. IC extended their lead to 4-0 in the second inning, with
Sela Scheinman and
Jessie Lopez scoring on a passed ball.
Leading 4-0, the Bombers added five more runs on six hits in the third inning.
Belle de Oliveira and
Sela Scheinman each drove in a pair of runs, and
Cate Murray earned an RBI with a single down the third base line. Ithaca continued to dominate, with de Oliveira driving in another run on a sacrifice fly to left field, making it 12-0.
In the fifth inning,
Haley Petrucci drove in
Sela Scheinman,
Anna Bello singled home
Taylor Andrews, and
Gabriella Facciponti doubled home Bello to cap off the scoring at 15-0.
Anna Cornell improved to 6-3 on the season.

Jessie Lopez each had multi-hit games.
Game 2: Ithaca 4, Skidmore 2 (F)
Neither team made much happen early on, but Skidmore took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning. Jessica Nachamie hit a home run, and an unearned run was scored off
Mady Rowell.
Ithaca responded in the top of the sixth inning when Belle de Oliviera,
Jessie Lopez, and
Sela Scheinman loaded the bases with singles.
Cate Murray drove in de Oliviera with a single, and
Elise Waddington tied the game with a sacrifice fly.
Haley Petrucci came up clutch with an RBI sacrifice bunt that scored two runs on a throwing error by the Thoroughbreds.
With a 4-2 lead,
Taylor Brunn entered in the sixth inning and left two runners stranded after giving up a pair of walks.
Taylor Andrews led off the top of the seventh with a double to the left center field gap and was pinch-run for by
Paige Cannon. The first year player scored when
Jessie Lopez ripped an RBI double, making it 5-2. Brunn closed the door, leaving another Skidmore runner stranded to earn the win, her second of the season.
The Bombers will have a quick turnaround with an away doubleheader at RPI on Monday, April 14, with game times slated for 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.
