ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Ithaca College men's tennis team secured its first Liberty League win of the season on Wednesday, defeating RIT on the road, 4-3. With this victory, Ithaca improves to 3-4 overall and 1-1 in conference play, while the Tigers fall to 3-6 overall and 0-1 in Liberty League action.
The doubles matches were highly competitive, with Ithaca winning two out of three to secure the decisive point. In the No. 2 slot,
Ivan Kisic and
Siddharth Vaada defeated Yu Tanimoto and Alexander Sinclair, 6-4. Although the Bombers lost 6-4 at No. 1 doubles, they clinched the point when
Ean Lantzy and
Luis Crespo overcame Luke Weber and Alec Turcotte, 7-6 (7-3).
Singles play was a back-and-forth affair. The Tigers won the first matchup at No. 2 singles, but
Luis Crespo responded by defeating Gabriel Escobar (2-6, 6-0, 6-0).
Emiliano Pedrero then extended Ithaca's lead to 3-1 with a three-set victory over Alexander Sinclair (2-6, 6-2, 6-4). First year player
Ivan Kisic clinched the win for Ithaca at No. 3 singles, defeating Alec Turcotte, 6-1, 6-3.
The Bombers will play two non-conference road matches this weekend: first against The College of New Jersey on Saturday, followed by a match against New York University on Sunday, March 30. The match against TCNJ is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
