TROY, N.Y. – The Ithaca College women's tennis team squared off against the RPI Engineers in a road matchup on Saturday evening and RPI was able to come away with a 5-2 win. The conference match was the first of the season for IC as they fall to 3-5 overall and 0-1 within Liberty League play.
The Engineers swept doubles play picking up 6-3, 6-3 and 6-2 wins at No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3 doubles, respectively. Singles play turned out to be competitive with three matchups going to three sets.
Ithaca was able to earn the win at No. 1 singles with
Taylor Crain besting Nicole Ridenour by a score of 6-7, 6-2 and 10-4.
Alys Pop dropped her matchup in the second slot as she fell in set scores of 2-6 and 0-6.
Sabrina Cheung was on the top of her game defeating Victoria Sarabosing by scores of 6-3, 2-6 and 10-5.
Ava Casell-Lapetina fell short in her three set match to Brooke Baur, 0-6, 6-4 and 4-10.
Next up, Ithaca College will travel to Ewing, N.J. to take on The College of New Jersey for a 1 p.m. start.
