PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The No. 14 Ithaca College women's lacrosse team lost top 20 battle at No. 22 St. John Fisher University, 15-10, on Saturday at Growney Stadium. Ithaca is now 4-2 on the season.
The Bombers never led in the game and went down by as many as eight goals by the end of the third quarter, 14-6. IC then turned up the offense in the fourth quarter and scored four goals to pull to within four at 14-10 with just under four minutes remaining in the contest, but Fisher answered with the final score at the 2:06 mark to put the game away.
During that fourth quarter run,
Lily Cody scored two of her three goals on the day, while
Kelly Augeri and
Hayley Armstrong also found the back of the net.
Fisher opened the game with a 6-3 advantage after the first quarter of action and tacked on four more goals in the second period, to just two for the Bombers, to take a 10-5 edge into intermission.
Elizabeth Green tallied a hat trick in the first half, while Augeri and Cody also tallied goals.
The Bombers scored the opening goal of the third quarter from
Leigh Naturale, but the Cardinals answered with a 4-0 run to close out the stanza.
Ithaca will return to action at home on Wednesday, March 26 for a 4 p.m. matchup with Rochester.
