SPARKS, Md. – The nationally ranked No. 16 Ithaca College women's lacrosse team got back on the winning track with a dominant 19-10 victory over No. 12 Roanoke on Wednesday afternoon at Tierney Field in Sparks, Md. Ithaca is now 3-1 on the season and returns home to begin Liberty League play against RIT on Saturday at 1 p.m.
After trading goals to begin the game, Ithaca took control from there. The Bombers built a 6-1 lead in the first quarter and extended their advantage to 11-3 late in the second quarter before heading into halftime with an 11-5 edge.
In the third quarter, Ithaca went on a 5-0 run to surpass the 10-goal threshold at 16-5 with 3:09 remaining in the period and played the rest of the contest with at least a nine-goal advantage en route to the 19-10 victory.
Lily Cody led all players with 10 points on six goals and four assists, while
Leigh Naturale dished out five assists.
Lexi Kellish,
Kelly Augeri and
Kathryn Scallon all notched hat tricks in the win, while
Hayley Armstrong tallied three points on two goals and one assist.
Elizabeth Green and
Maddie Hall also scored goals for the Bombers.
Mikaela Dattilo improved to 3-1 in cage as she made five saves in 45 minutes of action.
Jocelyn Cote played the fourth quarter and stopped four shots.
The Bombers and Maroons were even in draws at 16 apiece, but IC made the most of their offensive chances with 19 goals on 34 shot attempts.
