ITHACA, N.Y. – The nationally ranked No. 11 Ithaca College women's lacrosse team improved to 2-0 on the season with a no-doubt 14-3 victory over Cortland on a chilly Saturday afternoon at Higgins Stadium. The three goals surrendered marks the first time since 2007 that the Bombers have started a season by holding their opponents to three goals or fewer in back-to-back games.
IC scored early and often to put this contest away by the 4:27 mark of the second quarter as the Bombers build an 8-0 lead. Ithaca jumped out to a 5-0 advantage in the first period thanks to a hat trick from
Lily Cody and goals from
Leigh Naturale and
Lexi Kellish.

Elizabeth Green and Naturale tallied goals in the second quarter before the Red Dragons could get on the board to end the run with 2:33 remaining in the half. Naturale also assisted on two goals in the second quarter.
IC came out of intermission and put up five unanswered goals to make it 13-1 with just over 13 minutes left in the contest. The Bombers notched four goals in the third quarter to reach a running clock as Cody scored two more goals, while Kellish and Green found the back of the net again.
Kellish notched her hat trick with the first goal of the fourth quarter off a pass from Naturale and Cortland then got back on the board with 8:25 to go. Another goal from Naturale, off an assist from
Sydney Smith, made it 14-2 with 4:35 on the clock and Cortland ended the scoring with 2:29 left in the contest to account for the 14-3 final.
Mikaela Dattilo picked up the win in 48 minutes of action as she made seven saves and allowed just one goal.
IC outshot Cortland, 27-17 and was nearly perfect in clears at 19-for-21.
The Bombers are back in action on March 9 at Scranton for a 2 p.m. non-conference matchup.
