ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College men's tennis team hosted Drew University on Saturday afternoon inside Glazer Arena at the Athletics & Events Center on campus. The Bombers opened their spring season in dominant fashion, posting a 7-0 victory over the visitors.
The Bombers swept all six singles matches. Luis Crespo held his opponent, Ty Glijins, scoreless, winning 6-0, 6-0. At No. 1 singles, Gijs Fidler bested Jesse Faro 6-1, 6-3, while first-year Ivan Kisic followed suit at No. 2, winning his match 6-2, 6-1. Siddharth Vaada had a close first set but prevailed 7-5 and earned the win over Shivi Perera in the second set, 6-1. In the final two IC victories, David Lubell and Siddharth Desai both defeated their Drew University opponents 6-0, 6-1.
Ithaca clinched the doubles point in exciting fashion, with Gijs Fidler and Siddharth Desai outlasting Jesse Faro and Daniel Arcari 7-6 (7-1). Vaada and David Lubell, paired together at No. 3 doubles, took down Ty Geljins and Owen Reynolds.
Next up, Ithaca will host the University of Rochester on Saturday, February 22, with the matchup against the Yellowjackets slated for 10 a.m.
