Field Hockey Blanks No. 22 Rochester, 1-0

ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College field hockey team picked up a crucial Liberty League victory on Saturday at Higgins Stadium as the Bombers took down No. 22 University of Rochester, 1-0. Ithaca is now 9-4 on the season and 2-2 in the Liberty League as the victory not only helps IC's standings within the conference, but also bolsters the Bombers' NPI.

The lone goal of the contest came just over a minute into the fourth quarter as Payton Yahner moved along the far end line and sent a surgical pass through the defense that found Audrey McMahon for a one-timer. The goal is McMahon's team-leading fifth of the season.

IC controlled paced of play for most of the first half as the Bombers outshot Rochester, 8-3, including a 4-0 in the first quarter. Only one of IC's shots was on target in the first quarter but the Bombers applied extra pressure in the second stanza with three attempts on cage.

Maeve Clark made both of her saves in the second quarter.

The Yellowjackets only managed one shot in the second half as the Bombers would finish the contest with a 13-4 edge in that category.

The Bombers will conclude their regular season home schedule next Friday, October 17 against St. Lawrence at 4 p.m.
