ITHACA, N.Y. - The Ithaca College women's soccer team returned to Carp Wood Field this afternoon, battling Alfred University to a 0-0 draw. Despite dominating the match offensively, the Bombers couldn't find the back of the net, moving their season record to 4-0-2.
Ithaca came out firing in the first half, recording 13 shots and earning five corner kicks. Leading the offensive charge were
Kaelyn Fernandez,
Reese Ruegamer,
Rosie Bostian, and Sarah Sinnot, each posting two shots. However, Alfred's goalkeeper, Kiani Barnard-Pratt, was a brick wall, making seven crucial saves. On the defensive end, Ithaca faced little pressure, allowing only one shot, which was comfortably saved by
Grace Hickey.
The second half mirrored the first, with Ithaca ramping up the attack. They added 18 more shots, with Sinnot contributing five and Fernandez chipping in another three. The Bombers earned another five corner kicks but continued to be stifled by Barnard-Pratt, who made seven more saves, bringing her total to 14 for the match. Alfred managed just one shot all half, with Ithaca's defense standing strong.
Despite controlling the game, Ithaca couldn't capitalize on their chances. Fernandez led the team in shots on goal with four, while Sinnot fired off a team-high seven shots, two of which were on target. The Bombers pressed for a late goa with
Julia Cascone and
Kaelyn Fernandez forcing Barnard-Pratt into saves in the 84
th and 89
th minutes, respectively.
The Bombers will next face Lycoming College in a non-conference road match on Saturday, September 21 at 1 p.m.
