ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College women's soccer team triumphed over Nazareth College with a 3-2 victory on the road this past Saturday, improving their season record to 4-0-1. The Bombers scored an early first-half goal, conceded two consecutive goals in the second half, and then mounted a comeback, capped off by a decisive goal from Rosie Bostian in the 82nd minute.
Ithaca dominated the first half, scoring the lone goal and outshooting Nazareth 7-0. The first goal came in the 12th minute, with Sarah Sinnott finding space between two defenders and lofting a shot over Nazareth's goalkeeper, Annika Monfort, assisted by Ali Amari.
Nazareth recorded their first shot in the 50th minute, requiring a brilliant save from Grace Hickey, who tipped the ball over the crossbar. However, on the ensuing corner kick, Nazareth equalized with a goal deflected into the net by Grace Palczewski.
Eight minutes later, Nazareth took a 2-1 lead with a shot from Lauryn Obey just outside the box, leaving Hickey little chance to save it. This was Obey's first goal of the season.
Ithaca responded in the 67th minute when Sophie White crossed a pass to Rachel Hersch, who redirected it into the goal for her first of the season, tying the game at 2-2.
The Bombers regained the lead in the 82nd minute when Ally Stanton passed to Rosie Bostian, who fired a hard shot past Monfort into the back of the net. Ithaca finished with 13 shots as they outshot the home team and placed eight of those attempts on target.
Ithaca's next game is scheduled for 4 p.m. on Tuesday, September 14, against Alfred University at Carp Wood Field.
