Men's Lacrosse Fall to No. 8 Union

SCHENECTADY, N.Y.– The Ithaca College men's lacrosse team fell to the No. 8 ranked Union Garnet Chargers by a final score of 12-7 on Saturday. Despite the close contest, Ithaca has fallen to 6-5 on the season while going 0-3 in conference play while Union improved to 8-2 and 2-1 in Liberty League play.

The Garnet Chargers came ready to play as their offense was going early. Peter Kip was the first goal scorer of the contest letting one rip to make it 1-0 Union. Zach Dimuccio and Hazen Pike scored two more quick ones padding Union's lead to 3-0. The Bombers were able to punch back as Charlie Niebuhr and Jack Pastore scored a goal each and this game was separated by one goal heading into the second quarter.

Union came out hot to start the second quarter, scoring four-straight to make it 7-2. Justin Greene scored the first two of the quarter and Peter Kip added to an impressive day as well. However, Hunter Wallace was able to force a big turnover on the ensuing faceoff and Charlie Niebuhr found twine to make it a 7-3 game at halftime.

Justin Greene and Peter Kip were all over the scoresheet in this one as they continued their dominance in the third quarter. The Bombers scored a beautiful transition goal however as the two defensive midfielders, Michael Gillam and Jared Sedlock, hooked up for Gillam's fourth of the season bringing this one to an 8-4 score. Union rattled off three more to make it 11-4 heading into the fourth quarter.

It was the Cullen Adams show in the fourth as he took on and dodged two on the way towards the goal and netted both shots scoring his fifth and sixth goals of the season. Kyle Proctor scored the last goal in this one as the final was 12-7 Union.

Charlie Niebuhr and Cullen Adams led the way for the Bombers scoring two goals each while Pete Kip had five points to lead Union.

The Bombers next game will be this coming Wednesday, April 10 at 7 p.m. against  No. 3 RIT at Higgins stadium.
