No. 20 Women’s Lacrosse Trounces Clarkson, 24-11

POTSDAM, N.Y. – The nationally ranked No. 20 Ithaca College women's lacrosse team extended its winning streak to five straight and stayed perfect in the Liberty League with a convincing 24-11 win at Clarkson University on Friday. The Bombers are now 8-1 in the season and 4-0 in the Liberty League.

Clarkson scored the first goal of the contest in the opening minute, but it was all Bombers from there, as IC posted seven of the next 10 goals in the quarter to build a 7-4 lead. Ithaca would then outscore Clarkson, 6-3, in the second period for a 13-7 advantage at halftime and the Bombers reached the 10-goal spread by the end of the third quarter at 20-10. The final 15 minutes finished with IC tallying four goals to one for Clarkson for the 24-11 final.

Lily Cody paced IC on Friday with five goals and two assists for seven points, to go along with nine draw controls. Sydney Phillips also tallied five goals with an assist, while Juliana Esposito, Chloe Nordyke and Elizabeth Green all notched four goals in the win.

Esposito and Green each won three draws, as did Lexi Kellish, who also scored a goal with an assist and four caused turnovers. Maizy Veitch scored once with an assist and Kelly Augeri dished out one assist in the win.

Lexi Held made three saves in the victory and picked up six ground balls as she improved to 8-1 on the year.

The Bombers head to St. Lawrence tomorrow at 3 p.m.
