SCRANTON, Pa. - The Ithaca College baseball team closed out the regular season with a back-and-forth affair against Scranton, ultimately defeating the Royals 10-8 on the road on April 29. Ithaca heads into postseason play with a seven-game winning streak and 26-9 record.
The Bombers struck first, as
Camden Laney would get the first run across thanks to a sacrifice fly in the top of the first inning before
Tyler Pugliese would single in
Louis Fabbo, giving Ithaca a 2-0 lead heading to the bottom of the first.

Scranton would answer back, as the Royals would tie the game thanks to a single and a wild pitch in the bottom of the second, before gaining the lead on a sacrifice fly of their own, as the Royals led the Bombers 3-2 entering the top of the third.Â

The Bombers would play call and response with the Royals, plating four runners in the top of the third thanks to an
Ethan Rothstein two-run double followed by a
Nate Rodriguez bases-clearing single that gave IC a 6-3 lead heading to the last of the third.

Scranton would scratch across a run off of a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fourth inning but Ithaca would hold the Royals to just one run, giving the Bombers a 6-4 lead into the fifth inning.Â

The Bombers tacked on extra insurance in the top of the sixth inning, as Laney and
Matt Curtis walked to set up
Logan Scully, who hammered his fifth home run of the season to give the Bombers a 9-4 lead into the bottom of the sixth.Â

Ithaca tacked on another run in the seventh, as Curtis capitalized on a Royals error to single in
Colin Shashaty, giving Ithaca a 10-4 lead heading into the bottom of the seventh.Â

The Royals started the inning hot, driving in two runs with two outs in the bottom of the seventh to trim Ithaca's lead to 10-6 heading to the eighth inning.Â

Scranton would threaten in the bottom of the 8th, getting runners to second and third with two men out before clearing the bases with a single to bring the deficit down to 10-8 with the Bombers leading entering the ninth inning.Â

Ithaca pitching shut the Royals down in the bottom of the ninth inning, securing a 10-8 win for the Bombers as Ithaca improved to 26-9 on the season.Â

Dan Allard earned the win for the Bombers, tossing two innings while allowing just one hit against him. Conor Bruns finished off the win with two innings and a team-high three strikeouts on the day.Â

Pugliese's three hits led the Bombers afternoon, while Scully's three-run home run gave him a team-leading three RBI in the contest.

Ithaca earned the top seed in the Liberty League Western Division and will host Vassar for the Liberty League Crossover Series in a best-of-three matchup, with games one and two on Saturday.Â
