ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College men's tennis team hosted Vassar College on Saturday evening for a Liberty League match that was played in the Reis Tennis Center on the campus of Cornell University. The Bombers were able to score two victories in doubles play but ultimately fell 6-3 to Vassar. The loss drops Ithaca to 6-9 overall and 2-4 within the Liberty League while the Brewers improved to 3-1 in conference and 9-4 overall.
In the No. 1 doubles slot,
Gijs Fidler and
Emiliano Pedrero teamed up for a dominant 8-3 victory over Arun Guruswamy and M. Sondergaard Jense. The other doubles win was recorded by
Eric Dubilirer and
Jacob Wachs as they battled and took down Pedro Cattaruzzi and Eugene Lee by an 8-6 score.
Three of the six singles matches went into a third set as competition was strong as
Gijs Fidler captured a 7-5, 1-6, 6-2 victory over Eugene Lee at No. 2 singles. Falling in three sets were both
Siddharth Vaada (6-3, 4-6, 4-6) and
Eric Dubilirer (1-6, 7-5, 4-6).
The Bombers will have a quick turnaround hosting Bard College at 10 a.m. on Sunday.
