Strong Second Half Sends No. 21 Women’s Lacrosse Past No. 23 Fisher, 13-11

ITHACA, N.Y. - On a snowy day on South Hill and a start time that was delayed more than an hour, the nationally ranked No. 21 Ithaca College women's lacrosse team took on the nationally ranked No. 23 St. John Fisher. The Bombers edged out the Cardinals, beating them 13-11 and advancing their record to 5-1 on the season. 

Through one period, the Bombers trailed the Cardinals 4-1, with a goal from Elizabeth Green, assisted by Maizy Veitch. St. John Fisher scored three consecutive goals within the last five minutes of the period. 
 
To start off the second period, Caroline Wise scored a goal for the Bombers, giving them momentum for the rest of the quarter. Chole Nordyke scored within the next three minutes, allowing the Bombers to trail by one goal at 4-3. The Cardinals only scored one goal the entire period, while the Bombers went on to score two more, tying the score going into halftime at 5-5. 
 
The third quarter started off with an early goal from the Cardinals, followed by a Bombers goal less than a minute later from Lily Cody. The Bombers went on to outscore the Cardinals 3-1, giving them the lead going into the final 15 minutes. Nordyke scored twice over the final seven minutes, while Veitch added an advantage goal. 
 
The fourth period started off with two goals by the Bombers from Veitch and Cody, giving them a four-goal lead (11-7). The Cardinals responded with two goals of their own, making the score 11-9. It was a back-and-forth match for the rest of the game, with each team trading goals. Ultimately, the Bombers ended out on top, beating the Cardinals 13-11. Veitch and Lexi Kellish scored IC's final two goals of the game.
 
Nordyke led the Bombers in scoring with four goals. Veitch had three goals and two assists, and Lexi Held made 14 saves. Cody also finished with a hat trick, while Wise won 10 draws.
 
The Bombers next game is away against Rochester on Wednesday, March 27th.
