Match Recap: Women's Tennis |

Women’s Tennis Nearly Knock off Lafayette College

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Ithaca College women's tennis team took on Lafayette College and played NCAA Division I rules where doubles were worth one point with whichever team winning two out three getting the point. The Bombers were able to secure the point winning two out of the three and also won two of the six singles matches as they just fell short of knocking off the Leopards dropping a 4-3 result. With the loss, Ithaca College drops to 4-4 overall while Lafayette improved to 8-4 after Friday's match.

The No. 1 doubles pair of Taylor Crain and Alys Pop were successful in taking down Merkel Carman and Hannah Ganchi as the IC duo won 6-3. The Bombers were able to clinch the doubles point when Sabrina Cheung and Kendall Curley defeated the Lafayette pair of Paraskevi Briegel and Alyssa Perdomo winning 6-4.

Taylor Crain capped off a good Spring Break trip as she won her matchup at No. 1 singles besting Carmen Merkel by scores of 6-1, 3-6 and 10-7. Crain improved to 5-3 this season with the victory. Also taking home a victory for IC was fellow junior Lauren Rodriguez who defeated Alexandria Vollero by set scores of 6-0 and 6-3.

Up next, Ithaca College will return home for a Liberty League matchup against RPI at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 24.
