ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College women's tennis team had its first match since its spring break trip as the team hosted RPI for a Liberty League matchup at nearby Reis Tennis Center. The Engineers were able to sweep each of the doubles matches and were able to clinch the victory winning three of the singles matches.
Taylor Crain was up 2-1 over opponent before Nicole Ridnour retired so Crain earned her sixth win of the spring season. Also following suit and earning singles victories were
Kendall Curley and
Sabrina Cheung. Curley was in a back-and-forth affair against Krisia Flores as she won the first 7-6 (8-6) but dropped the second (3-6) before coming back to win the third by a 10-7 score. Meanwhile,
Sabrina Cheung won at No. 5 singles defeating RPI's Lina Krumpel 8-4.
At No. 3 doubles
Maddie Sutro and
Ava Casell-Lapetina fell to Prisha Rapur and Brooke Baur by a 4-8 score but made several nice plays within the sets.
With the loss, Ithaca College drops to 4-5 overall and 0-2 in the Liberty League while RPI improves to a conference best 7-3 overall and 1-0 in league play. The Bombers will travel to Geneva, N.Y. for its next match at William Smith on Friday, March 29 for a 4 p.m. start.
