ORLANDO, Fla. – The Ithaca College men's tennis team returned to action on Thursday down in Orlando, Fla. and they were in top form taking down Springfield College by a 7-2 final score. The Bombers swept doubles play as they improved to 3-5 overall and will take on Lafayette College on Friday in their final match playing at the USTA National Campus.
All three of the IC doubles pairs were successful in their efforts going against the Pride competition.
Gijs Fidler and
Emiliano Pedrero took down Springfield's top pair of Tatsuya Kimoto and M. Villanueva Abad by an 8-3 score and
Eric Dubilirer and
Siddharth Vaada followed suit at No. 2 as they won their match 8-4. Michah Matsudaira and Waseem Sablon traded points with the IC duo of
Jacob Wachs and
Ean Lantzy but the Ithaca pair came out on top winning 8-6.
Nicolas Luis was able to take down Tatsuya Kimoto at No. 1 singles winning by scores of 6-3, 6-4.
Gijs Fidler improved to 2-0 on the day as he won his singles match 6-2, 6-3 and
Carlos Hernandez was successful at No. 3 besting his opponent by scores of 6-3, 6-4. The final Bombers win was captured by
Eric Dubilirer who beat Waseem Sablon 6-0 in the first set and 6-4 in the second.
Ithaca College will take on Lafayette College on Friday, March 15 at 11 a.m. in its final spring break match and will host RPI at home on Sunday, March 24 at 10 a.m.
