ORLANDO, Fla. – The Ithaca College women's tennis team got its Spring Break trip off to a good start as the team is competing on the USTA National Campus this week in Orlando, Fla. and they bested Franklin & Marshall, 5-4 on Monday. With the win, the Bombers improve to 3-2 overall and will take on Trinity College (Conn.) on Tuesday morning.
The Bombers battled back after dropping two of the three doubles matchups. The lone successful pair for IC was
Alys Pop and
Taylor Crain who were able to take down Mackenzie Sherman and Sophia Rhazali, 8-4.
Ithaca won the top for singles matches beginning at the No. 1 slot where
Taylor Crain beat Mackenzie Sherman (6-1, 6-2) and
Alys Pop battled Rebecca Bellick and Pop was able to win 6-3, 6-4. Take home competitive wins that went three sets were both
Kendall Curley and
Lauren Rodriguez. Curley bested Sophia Rhazali 6-2, 0-6, 1-0 (10-8) and Rodriguez just about did the same as she won the first set 6-2, dropped the second 4-6, but won the last 1-0 (10-6).
The Bombers will take on Trinity at 10 a.m. on Tuesday.
