ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Ithaca College women's tennis team was back in action on Saturday afternoon as it turned out to be a competitive matchup between the Bombers and the University of Rochester. Ithaca had a big day in singles action as they won four of the six matches.
Junior
Taylor Crain took on Josephine Libby who was ranked one place higher in the latest regional rankings and it was all Crain as she took the match at No. 1 singles matchup 6-2, 6-3.
Alys Pop had a dominant first set going over Sanjana Karnam 6-1 and she followed it up by winning 7-5.
At No. 3 singles
Kendall Curley and Jasmin Toor went back and forth with Curley winning the first set 6-3, while Toor made it harder in the second, Curley prevailed in extras 7-6 (9-7). First year
Maddie Sutro clinched the match in favor of the Bombers at No. 6 singles as she defeated Jaclyn Dron 6-2, 6-2.
In doubles action, the lone win of the day for Ithaca came at No. 2 where
Sabrina Cheung and
Kendall Curley were able to best the 'Jackets pair of Jaclyn Dron and Jasmin Toor by a score of 8-6.
With the win, the Bombers improved to 2-0 and will be back in action on Sunday, February 25 with a home match against Smith College inside Glazer Arena at 12 p.m.
