MADISON, N.J. – The Ithaca College men's tennis opened up its' non-conference spring schedule with a 7-2 dual win at Drew University on Saturday, February 10. With the win, the Bombers improved to 1-0 on the season and handed the Rangers their first loss of the season as they fall to 4-1 overall.
It was an ultra-competitive affair at No. 3 doubles, with the tandem of
Jacob Wachs and
Nicolas Luis capturing the 8-7 (12-10) victory over Jesse Faro and Jack Polvere. The Bombers other two duos of
Gijs Fidler and
Emiliano Pedrero and
Eric Dubilirer and
Siddharth Vaada won their matchups by respective scores of 8-3 and 8-2.
Nicolas Luis easily bested Jesse Foro in No. 1 singles by set scores of 6-1 and 6-4. The only two losses of the afternoon came at No. 5 and No. 6 singles. First year
Gijs Fidler was able to double bagel his opponent Shivi Perera to earn the win at No. 2 singles and
Siddharth Vaada bested Daryl Wong Li-Hom defeating him 6-3, 6-2. The other win for IC came with
Emiliano Pedrero winning a thrilling match over Daniel Arcari as he did it in extra's defeating Arcari 3-6, 6-2, 10-5.
The Bombers will return to action once again competing on the road on Saturday, February 24 at the University of Rochester. They will square off against the 'Jackets at 2 p.m.
