Men’s Soccer Falls Short Against RIT

ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College men's soccer team fell 2-1 on Wednesday afternoon as all three goals were scored within the first half. RIT forward Jake Donahue scored back-to-back goals for the Tigers, followed by Joshua Bourdoulous finding the back of the net in the 25th minute. Ithaca, now 7-7-2 overall and 3-4-1 within conference play, have one final Liberty League match remaining in its regular season schedule.

The Tigers were able to gain the early momentum as they found the back of the net just 47 seconds into the match. Idriss Diallo dribbled into the 18-yard box and set up Jake Donahue, who was able to beat Bryson Shaull into the upper right corner of the net. Shaull denied Adam Eastman at the 10:23 mark of the first half.

Ithaca managed its first shot from the boot of Landon Hellwig, but it ended up sailing high and wide of the target in the 15th minute. RIT doubled up on their lead and went up 2-0 in the 23rd minute when Jake Donahue found the back of the net again. Donahue dribbled through a pair of IC defenders to earn a one-on-one against Shaull, who couldn't make the save.

The Bombers made it 2-1 at the 24:48 mark when Joshua Bourdoulous scored his second goal of the season. Bourdoulous got on the end of an impressive combination play by IC that saw Ikey Borden feed Jared Krasnove in front of the keeper. Krasnove crossed it across the goalmouth and Bourdoulous finished it off. The score remained 2-1 going into the halftime break, with IC outshooting the visitors by an 8-6 margin.

One of the more dangerous attempts at an equalizer came in the 67th minute when Drew Warren ripped a shot from just outside the 18-yard box that was dipping, but it sailed high of the crossbar. Shaull came up big again, denying a Tigers insurance goal as he saved a breakaway effort from Rom Wasserman.

Ithaca College will take on RPI in its final regular season game on Saturday, November 2. First kick is slated for 11 a.m.
