No. 22 Field Hockey Claims Regular Season Title with 4-1 Win at St. Lawrence

CANTON, N.Y. – The nationally ranked No. 22 Ithaca College field hockey team secured its second straight regular season Liberty League crown with a 4-1 victory at St. Lawrence on Sunday. Ithaca has now won five straight games and is 11-5 on the season, with a 6-1 mark in Liberty League play.

IC dominated the first half and built a 3-0 lead behind goals from Audrey McMahon, Catherine Papa and Payton Yahner. The Bombers outshot the Saints, 10-3, over the opening 30 minutes of action.

McMahon tallied IC's initial goal off a feed from Juliana Valli to stake the Bombers to a 1-0 lead in the 11th minute of action. Early in the second quarter, Papa put home a goal to make it 2-0 and then Yahner extended the edge to 3-0 with just under five minutes left in the half.

IC's lead grew to 4-0 halfway through the third quarter as Natalie Descalso notched a goal off a pass from Caroline Folan.

St. Lawrence got on the board three minutes into fourth quarter to account for the 4-1 final score.

Maeve Clark made two saves in 45 minutes of action for her eighth win of the season. Abby Cannon appeared in the fourth quarter.

The Bombers go to Oswego on October 30 for a 4 p.m. contest and then host No. 18 Ursinus for the regular season finale and Senior Day on November 2.
