No. 23 Field Hockey Dominates Oswego in 5-0 Road Win

OSWEGO, N.Y. – The nationally ranked No. 23 Ithaca College field hockey team secured its sixth straight victory with a 5-0 shutout win at Oswego on October 30. During the six-game winning streak, IC has blanked its opposition four times and has outscored foes, 19-2. Ithaca is now 12-5 on the season heading into its regular season finale on Saturday.

It was a scoreless first half until there was less than two minutes left, although the Bombers outshot Oswego, 18-0, over the opening 30 minutes. IC also earned 10 corners in the first half. The Bombers would go on to take 38 shots in the win, which are the most for a team since IC fired off 39 shots against Brockport in 2017.

On the sixth corner of the second quarter, Audrey McMahon inserted but the ball rolled out of the circle. Bella McCollister corralled the ball and ripped a shot towards target, which was redirected by Toni Ierardi and saved. The ball then popped into the air and McMahon batted the ball into the goal to give IC a 1-0 lead.

IC put home another goal late in the third quarter as Mia Woodard found Brady Sullivan unmarked in front of goal to make it 2-0 with just over six minutes on the clock. Natalie Descalso would be credited with the goal as she tapped in the ball just off the line. In the final seconds of the quarter, Woodard collected a loose ball nearly the goal line and tapped it in for a 3-0 difference. Ierardi was credited with the assist.

The edge grew to 4-0 just 1:36 into the fourth quarter as Meara Bury redirected a shot by Descalso off a corner attempt. Bury started the play with the insert and moved into position as the ball was worked around the circle to set up Descalso's attempt, who has now tallied a point in six straight games with the assist.

McMahon put home the final goal of the contest for a 5-0 difference with just under six minutes to go in regulation.

Maeve Clark and Abby Cannon split time in goal but neither faced a shot.
